Names and noinclude section[edit]

First we need to finalize whether this is intended as a navigation box or an info box.

  1. To me this looks like a navigation box to be used at top of about 2 dozen articles of Carnatic music. Right now it is being used in 3 articles - Carnatic music, Janya and List of Carnatic composers. It should be extended to all pages in this navigation box, including, Sruti, Swara, Raga, Tala, Melakarta, Varnam, Kriti, etc. In this case, all IAST names should go, along with image too - as the image, names in other languages, and IAST are not appropriate for other pages!
  2. If the intention is to use it as an info box "only" on Carnatic music, then the content looks OK, but then we need a Carnatic music navigation box added to above mentions pages (in previous point). For the names in other languages and IAST - if it is already specified in the text of the page, then this can be removed. If the page does not give this information, then it will be appropriate for this info box.

Another important point is the repeated removal of <noinclude> . . . </noinclude> section. Please do not remove those portions, even if you are reverting something else. Wikipedia has categories and links like these to help editors and users to access related pages, pages in similar category, etc. By removing these the template remains uncategorized. Specificially, as of now, India arts and culture templates category is a must for this template. VasuVR (talk, contribs) 08:29, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, having the same image twice on an important page like Carnatic music is looking really odd! I hope editors with opposing view points on this do not keep reverting this template and the Carnatic music page again and again. Let us decide for once and implement it. • Agree with the issues raised. The image belongs in the article, near the relevant content concerning the divine origins of Carnatic music - there is no reason to include that in this template. Further, using an image twice is odd. IAST names is something I don't think is appropriate either given that this template can be used on other relevant pages. Hi, just letting you know, tambura is an Eastern European instrument (probably related to) the tanpura (the Indian raga instrument). Cammy169 (talk) 22:22, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Shruti Box[edit]

Can it be called Shruthi innstrument? Not a box? A better term possible? Thanks. VasuVR (talk, contribs) 05:16, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's more commonly known as shruti box rather than shruti instrument as far as I'm aware. Ncmvocalist (talk) 14:03, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
